Austin’s 1-hour grounded SciFi pilot “Strange Chapel” was one of thirty-nine scripts, out of thousands of applications from around the world, selected for the 2026 “The Women’s List.” “Strange Chapel” also won 1st Prize in the 2024 Fade In Awards SciFi script competition, and placed in several other major competitions, including the Chicago Script Awards, Cinequest Screenwriting Competition, and was a quarterfinalist in The Writer’s Lab 2023. Also in the TV space, Austin has written and developed a 1-hour action pilot “Carolina Bray” set in the North Carolina Appalachian mountains. She has more TV samples available upon request.

Her first produced feature screenplay, “A Country Romance” was optioned and produced by Reel One. It originally aired on UpTV and is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Austin’s comedy feature film starring Ashanti and Cedric the Entertainer was produced and distributed by Saban Entertainment and received a limited theatrical release in Sept 2023, then moved to steaming on Starz. Her latest feature “Inheritance” had its World Premiere at the “Dances With Films” film festival in Los Angeles in 2024 and is now streaming for on Tubi and Amazon Prime after receiving distribution from One Tree Entertainment. Her sweeping period piece/biopic of Katharine Reynolds placed in the top 100 scripts out of over 3,500 entries in the ISA Diversity Initiative. She has several short film and features scripts available upon request.

Highsmith Garces has also been a polish writer and/or rewritten “Pet Investigators,” and “Hats Off to Love,” both which were produced and received distribution. Austin has also been accepted to the Stowe Story Labs Feature Campus for the fall of 2026 where she will develop and write a new SciFi movie “Capture.” She’s also going into production on another one of her short films “Weirdo” in the fall of 2026 which she will co-direct.
